We take great pride in making this procedure as pleasant and safe as possible for our patients. The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons considers the best time for removal of impacted wisdom teeth to be between the ages of 15 and 25. Earlier removal, however, may be preferred in certain situations. In many cases, prophylactic removal of the wisdom teeth is advisable due to space concerns and the long-term potential for damage to adjacent teeth, gums and jawbone. In general, you will heal faster and more predictably and have fewer complications when treated early. A consultation in the mid-teenage years is ideal.
